VFS Global — Visa Facilitation Services
VFS Global is a private company contracted by the South African Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to manage the front-end processing of visa and permit applications.
What VFS Does
VFS Global offices accept visa applications, collect biometric data, verify that required documents are submitted, and forward complete applications to DHA for adjudication. They also return passports and outcome letters to applicants.
What VFS Does Not Do
VFS does not make decisions on visa applications. All adjudication is performed by DHA officials. VFS cannot advise on the likely outcome of an application.
VFS Service Fees
VFS charges a service fee (approximately R1,350) in addition to the DHA application fee. This covers application handling, biometric capture, and courier services.
Locations
VFS Global operates offices in major South African cities including Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, and Durban. Appointment booking is typically required.
