The Minister of Home Affairs publishes the list by notice in the Government Gazette. The current list was gazetted on 2 February 2022 and contains 101 occupations (reduced from 215 in the 2014 list).

Ministerial Waiver (2024/2025)

Due to significant SAQA backlogs:

  • Applicants who provide proof of SAQA submission may be issued a 12-month visa
  • Once SAQA evaluation is complete and submitted, the visa can be renewed for the full 5-year period
  • This applies to both General Work and Critical Skills visas
